Everyday Makeup Look

18 April 2014

This has been my go to makeup look for as long as I can remember. It's easy, quick and safe enough for work or just doing the errands. One of my pet peeves is looking or feeling overly done. Sometimes it works for my benefit and other times well it doesn't do me a favour, but we'll talk about that on another post.

My 3 main staples all these years are eyebrow product, face powder and a blush. I don't think I can leave the house without those 3 items on my face. Only recently that I got into the wonderful and colourful world of lip products and more recently (and by that I mean 5 years ago) that I discovered the power of mascaras and under eye concealers.

I have a few rules here and there when it comes to this look:

1. foundation should be medium coverage and semi-matte finish. I want my freckles to still show but it should cover and even out any acne spots or marks. I hate flat looking foundations. In this look I used my new favourite foundation combo - Urban Decay Naked HD Foundation and Revlon Colour Stay Mineral Makeup. I think the mineral powder actually makes anything look good, it has that subtle glow to it but not glitter like glow.

2. my eyebrows should be just 1 shade lighter than my hair and it has been so hard to find the right shade as sometimes it's ashy looking or just too brown but I have found the perfect shade in the form of Benefit Brow-zings in Dark.

3. my blush should have that subtle sheen to it or glow and I have been mixing blush and a highlighter before until I found the perfect rosy blush in the form of L'oreal True Match blush in Rosewood

4. My mascara needs to be waterproof. I'm currently obsessed (and forever loyal to) Covergirl LashBlast range. It is the only one that doesn't give me panda eyes and is easily accessible and cheap enough to be repurchased every 3 months. My other HG mascara is MUFE Aqua Lash which is not sold in Australia (yet).

5. Under eye concealer is a must. The best undereye concealer for me so far is Maybelline's Age Rewind concealer. It has been very popular in the beauty community.

And with Lipsticks? I have no rules for lipsticks. I wear what I feel like for the day.

Latest Addition to Skin Care

17 April 2014

Hi petals

I know, I know, I was MIA for a good amount of weeks and I have no valid reason except I took some time off from blogging, I was still accumulating "stuff" that's been in my forever long list of items to blog about, so there should be more upcoming posts your way! yay! I do update my Instagram with some swatches here and there and my Facebook Page too!

So on to the post, shall we??

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying out different skin care products to add to my ever so growing skin care products and here are the few of star items that I'm currently obsessing about.

(L to R): Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimiser, Aveeno Positively Radiant Night Cream, Simple Exfoliating Wipes and Simple Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - I don't know if you know my love for micellar water, maybe you do. I am still inlove with Bioderma but this baby is much more friendly to your wallet and it performs just as good as Bioderma. This is one of those items that is cheap but not necessarily crap.

Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimiser - now this baby makes my pores disappear, not permanently but for the day. It leaves my skin feeling like a (clean) baby's bottom... silky smooth. It's perfect as a base for foundation as it makes the foundation glides on your skin like no other. I am yet to see the longterm effects of this products and see if it will make my pores disappear for good or just smaller. I will keep you updated.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Intesive Night Cream - now I blame Jennifer Aniston on this one. She's my forever favourite girl crush. She's currently the brand ambassador and of course I had to get what she's selling! Forget about the doctors and makeup artists that make her look pretty and young, if I am being honest, I just want what she's selling. Anyway, it's an ok night cream, very moisturising and makes my thirsty skin feeling refreshed, so I am happy with the purchase. I am not sure if this is going to be repurchased after I finish it though because knowing me, I would find something else by that time. Btw, I alternate this with my usual facial oil.

Simple Exfoliating Wipes - this is an awesome wipes for nights / days when you don't have time to spend cleaning/exfoliating your face. I normally use this at night when I am really tired but need to remove all the shizz I piled up on my face. It's really exfoliating and it removes every single makeup I put on including waterproof mascara. This would be great for travelling, an exfoliator and cleanser all in one, 1 or 2 less items in your toiletries bag I guess. I would buy this again when it's on special.

Simple Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes - just your ordinary wipes but better as it doesn't leave any of those greasy feel on your face. At least for me, my skin feels cleaner after using this wipe. You may think I skip water and facial wash all together...no, no, no. I use this only to remove my makeup then I do my usual routine.

Phew.. more stuff hahaha

I am officially a skin care addict.

I'll see you tomorrow with a makeup post, how about that?
